Around 150 tractors, trucks and decorated cars will once again drive through towns and villages across Cheshire in memory of teenager Mia Jennings who died suddenly from cardiac arrest in 2023 aged just 19. Mia was part of the Young Farmers and very involved in the community.
The third running of this event, which was watched by around 5,000 people in 2024, will again be raising funds for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), with money going towards a screening programme and research.
Dr Steven Cox, chief executive of CRY, said: “Every week, 12 apparently fit and health young people aged 35 and under in the UK die suddenly from a previously undiagnosed heart condition.
“In 80 per cent of these cases, there will have been no signs or symptoms of a heart defect until it is too late, which is why CRY believes screening is so vitally important.
The route
The event starts at Higher Farm on Stocks Lane in Over Peover at 3.30pm on Saturday, December 27 and will take around four hours.
Tractors will head towards Jodrell Bank, through Gawsworth, past Mia’s work place to Alderley Edge.
The convoy then passes Dunvilles Farm in Nether Alderley, the Egerton Arms, Dun Cow, Lambing Shed, towards Plumley and The Golden Pheasant and Smoker.
The cavalcade will then travel into Lostock Gralam, Rudheath into Lach Dennis and back to Peover.
