Western Holstein Club's first event of 2026 will be a panel session titled "Paving a Career in Agriculture".
In what promises to be an interesting and enjoyable evening, three local speakers will share their journeys, experiences and lessons learned within the world of agriculture.
LOUISE GLENN
Louise graduated from Harper Adams in 2008 with a degree in Animal Health and Welfare, which paved her way into the genetics industry for many years.
Louise and her husband Will established their Distinctive Holstein herd in 2006 and were successful applicants for a County Council Tenancy in 2010, which led to milking 180 cows and continuing to strive for the next available litre. Louise is passionate about educating the next generation, supporting farmers with her teaching at University Centre Reaseheath and offering independent consultancy and training on farm in recent years.
ANDREW RUTTER
Andrew comes from farming stock on both sides of the family. As his parents were on a small tenanted farm, there was little opportunity for him to farm after leaving school . So, while taking an Agricultural degree at Harper Adams University, Andrew did a year out on Pedigree Holstein Farms in Canada.
After 2 years at Deehaven, Andrew spent 18 years working for ABS Genus, developing bull lines and spending time all over the world as their European sire analyst.
With a young family, Andrew found himself spending more and more time away from home, which was not a good work/life balance, so he was pleased to be offered the chance to join the partnership with Mum & Dad and sister, Emma Jones, at Clayhanger Hall Farm.
Andrew is a member of the ADHB Dairy Sector Council.
JACK JONES
Jack Jones is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a registered valuer and a fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers. Jack provides professional assistance to farmers and landowners on a range of matters including Valuations, Agricultural Subsidy Schemes and Land affected by major infrastructure schemes.
Growing up and continuing to work on his family's dairy farm, Jack takes great pride in the pedigree herd, with some of his favourite days being washing and clipping cows for market.
