The countdown is on to one of the North West’s most celebrated agricultural events, as the Great Eccleston Show returns on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 July 2026.
With a history stretching back more than 170 years, the two-day event continues to showcase the very best of British agriculture, rural life and countryside traditions, while also embracing the latest developments in farming and agricultural technology.
Organised by the Great Eccleston Agricultural Society, the show has been a fixture in the rural calendar since the society was founded in 1853, originally to promote the improvement and advancement of agriculture. What began as local ploughing matches and livestock competitions has grown into one of the region’s most popular agricultural shows, attracting visitors from across Lancashire and beyond.
This year’s event promises something for everyone, whether you’re involved in farming or simply looking for a fantastic family day out.
Visitors can enjoy a packed programme featuring livestock classes, including cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, poultry and Shire horses, alongside light horse competitions, tractor pulling and the ever-popular companion dog show.
Beyond the livestock rings, the show celebrates the wider countryside with traditional rural crafts, sheep shearing, sheepdog demonstrations, beekeeping displays, stunt riders, Cumberland wrestling and a Victorian funfair.
Food lovers will also find plenty to enjoy, with a bustling food hall showcasing local produce, cakes, cheeses, chutneys and artisan goods, as well as live demonstrations in the food theatre.
The event also provides an opportunity to see how modern agriculture continues to evolve, with exhibitors displaying the latest agricultural technology alongside demonstrations of traditional country skills that have shaped rural life for generations.
The Fylde area has long been recognised as home to some of Britain’s finest livestock breeders, and the quality of animals exhibited at the Great Eccleston Show continues to reflect that proud heritage.
Whether you’re passionate about farming, interested in countryside life or simply looking for an enjoyable summer event, the Great Eccleston Show offers a unique opportunity to experience the very best of rural Britain.
The show opens from 9am to 6pm on both days, with free parking available for visitors. Book now!
