An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced and driven Organic Poultry Manager to take responsibility for a large organic free-range egg operation in the Home Counties, set within a forward-thinking business that champions innovation, quality, and long-term growth. This is a dynamic, on-the-ground leadership role where you will drive daily farm performance, lead and develop your team, and ensure the highest standards of welfare, compliance, and operational excellence. You will bring proven poultry management experience, outstanding people leadership ability, strong husbandry knowledge, and a practical, lead-from-the-front approach. Role Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day farm operations across all sites, ensuring the highest levels of flock health and welfare are maintained to optimise egg production
- Lead, train, and manage a dedicated team, driving excellence and fostering a positive collaborative culture
- Manage the ordering of feed, medications, equipment, and supplies, including negotiating quotes and contracts
- Manage staff scheduling, payroll coordination, and training, including health and safety
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, implementation of biosecurity protocols, and welfare standards
- Maintain accurate flock health, flock performance, and operational records for audits and reporting
- Perform hands-on farm tasks to ensure a clean, organised, and well-maintained environment, including buildings, equipment, and grounds
Skills you will need:
Essential:
- Proven experience in free-range flock management
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of poultry husbandry and production practices
- Experience in successfully leading and managing a team
- Highly organised with a strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A knowledge and strong understanding of biosecurity measures and industry regulations
- Dedicated and committed to continuous improvement and high-performance standards
- A collaborative team player
- Proficient in IT skills
- Physically fit and active, willing to work outside and be hands-on in all weather
Desirable:
- Proven experience in the organic sector
Remuneration: A competitive salary and benefits package including company vehicle, bonus, pension, and a three-bedroom farm cottage on site.
