We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Arable Manager to lead the production, harvesting, and management of high-quality forage for our client’s progressive dairy operation in the North West of England. Sustainability lies at the heart of our client’s farm, with a focus on home-grown forage, including grass, maize and whole crop silage, supported by an impressive range of high-quality machinery and equipment. The ideal candidate will combine technical knowledge with practical field experience, overseeing the forage program from planting to feeding, while helping to maximise yield and nutritional quality. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced hands-on farm manager, senior tractor driver or contractor looking to take the next step in their career, with excellent prospects for progression within a supportive operation.

Role Responsibilities:
- To manage the day-to-day field operations for the growing and harvesting of grass, maize and wheat
- To perform routine field tasks, managing and operating machinery, including slurry handling, fertilising, ploughing, drilling, and silaging
- To monitor growing crops and forage quality to meet livestock nutritional requirements
- To collaborate with veterinarians, nutritionists and agronomists to help maintain herd health and field productivity
- To monitor and undertake routine maintenance of the machinery and equipment
Skills you will need:
Essential:
- Experienced in the operation of large farm machinery and equipment
- Knowledge and understanding of agricultural practices and all field operations
- An interest in soil management and crop production
- A strong communicator
- The ability to interpret and follow instructions accurately
- Organised with a high level of attention to detail
- Basic mechanical knowledge, with the ability to undertake routine maintenance
- A team player who can work collaboratively
- Honest, dedicated and driven, willing to go the “extra mile” when required
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- PA1, PA2 qualified
