 Role Responsibilities:

  • Overall management of the herd, ensuring that feeding and routine husbandry procedures are conducted to high production and welfare standards, maximising DLWG
  • To implement and monitor herd health programmes – weights, health checks, and worming
  • To maintain accurate record-keeping and movement records on the farm management software
  • To ensure the farm operates in compliance with industry standards and adheres to established protocols
  • To oversee all aspects of grassland and forage management across the farm
  • To lead and manage a small team, fostering a positive working environment

 

Skills you will need:
Essential:

  • Proven experience of successfully managing ruminant production systems (beef or dairy)
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of animal husbandry and health management
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and a keen eye for livestock welfare
  • Experience with silage and forage management operations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams effectively
  • Independent, happy to work autonomously, but can collaborate well with a team when needed
  • Strong attention to detail, with accurate record keeping and proficiency in interpreting data
  • Dedicated with a strong sense of pride in the work undertaken
  • Proficient in IT skills
  • UK driving license

 

Remuneration: A competitive salary and benefits package is offered, commensurate with experience, including participation in a weekend rota. Accommodation is available if required.
