Cheshire’s young farmers have proven once again that community spirit is alive and thriving. Over the past 12 months, the Cheshire Young Farmers’ Clubs (YFC) have raised a staggering £86,754.48 for a wide range of local and national charities — from one charity to another, whilst having fun and feeding the nation.
The umbrella organization, Cheshire YFC, oversees 11 clubs across the county, each contributing uniquely through events like tractor runs, pantomimes, raffles, and pie & quiz nights. While traditionally rooted in agriculture, Cheshire YFC has evolved into a vibrant network welcoming young people from both rural areas and larger towns in the surrounding area.
Cheshire YFC are unbelievably proud of their members. This year has been nothing short of phenomenal and they thank everyone who attended events, donated and organised.
Club Remarkable Efforts Include:
The Dairy Queen Team, Anna Welland, Emma Hodgson and Chloe Bradley-Boffey who are ambassadors of Cheshire YFC, raised an impressive £25,600.16 by running the London Marathon, hosting an afternoon tea, and organising a Christmas raffle. Funds were directed to their chosen charities for the year, Teenage Cancer Trust who have been a massive support to Jame Colcough, a Cheshire YFC member who is fighting Leukaemia and the Children Adventure Farm Trust.
Additionally, the Chairpersons for 2024/25, Mike Leech and Siobhan Rutter raised £7,639.24 through a charity concert where all clubs performed supporting North West Air Ambulance and the Cheshire Agricultural Chaplaincy.
More Than Just Farming
While rooted in the traditions of agriculture, today’s Cheshire YFC offers a platform for young people from all walks of life to develop leadership skills, build lifelong friendships, and give back to the community.
As Cheshire YFC looks ahead to another year of service, one thing is clear: the next generation of rural leaders is already making a powerful impact.
