During the State Visit by Germany on 4 December 2025, volunteers from The Farming Community Network (FCN) were among those invited to celebrate the incredible work of volunteer organisations and charities across the country.
FCN volunteers Maureen Trott (Somerset) and Mark Newman (Oxfordshire) highlighted the importance of food and farming in society, as well as the vital role played by FCN volunteers in support of our farming community.
This included shining a spotlight on FCN’s FarmWell website and initiatives - helping our farming community to live and farm well – and work to address health inequalities, such as through the charity’s UK-wide partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event coincides with FCN’s 30th anniversary, as the charity marks three decades of ‘walking with’ farmers and farming families during difficult times and through periods of change.
Jude McCann, CEO of The Farming Community Network, said: “FCN is honoured to have been invited to take part in the State Visit with His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen, celebrating the hard work and dedication of our volunteer network. FCN volunteers provide vital support to our farming and wider rural community, and we are delighted to have been given this opportunity to showcase their achievements, as well as to shine a light on the incredible work of farmers across the UK.”
