As the Holstein Young Breeders (HYB) Australian Exchange takes place for a seventh time, Daniel Weaver from Staffordshire HYB has been selected for this trip of a lifetime in January.
Daniel will leave for Australia at the start of 2026 for a month to experience the Australian dairy industry. The 23-year-old, who has been involved in HYB for the past 12 years, will have the chance to attend the renowned International Dairy Week as well as the Dairy Youth Camp, and visit farms and travel around the country.
Daniel is curious to learn more about the Australian dairy industry, especially after hosting his Australian counterpart, Harry Dodd, who visited the UK in September and October earlier this year. Daniel is keen to learn about the challenges in an ever-changing global market and climate, as well as having the opportunity to network with like-minded young breeders and individuals. Daniel is also keen to learn more about how in Australia they manage barn ventilation and breeding decisions.
On his travels, Daniel will be updating those back home on his activities through updates on social media, and later, a full report of his trip will feature in the Journal (the Holstein UK membership magazine).
Hannah Williams, Head of Events & Marketing, commented on Daniel’s selection for the Australian Exchange: “I am delighted for Daniel to have been selected for this year’s Australian Exchange trip. It is a wonderful opportunity, and I am sure he will take everything he can from the experience. The applications we receive every year are always of an extremely high standard, so it is never easy to select one person from such a high-calibre group of young members. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Holstein Australia for their continued support of this amazing exchange partnership, and I look forward to hearing about Daniel’s time in Australia".
