Some of Cheshire’s finest farming businesses have been recognised in the 2026 Cheshire County Farms Competition, with the overall winners now announced following months of judging across the county.
Celebrating excellence in agriculture for generations, the competition continues to shine a spotlight on the people, businesses and best practice that make Cheshire farming one of the strongest in the country. Judges visit farms in their own working environments, assessing everything from productivity and livestock management to environmental stewardship, machinery, buildings and presentation.
This year’s highest honour, the Supreme Farm Champion title, was awarded to Jones HFE Agriculture, Hill Farm, Eccleston, who also received the prestigious Rostons Challenge Cup.

The Reserve Farm Champion title, together with the Meller Speakman Cup, was awarded to D & JP Dakin of Manor House Farm, Malpas, recognising another outstanding farming business committed to excellence.
The Cheshire County Farms Competition celebrates the diversity of farming across the county, with awards spanning a wide range of categories. From dairy, beef, sheep and arable farming to conservation, forage crops, farm machinery, buildings, grassland management, diversification and farm gardens, the competition showcases the dedication, innovation and professionalism that continue to drive the industry forward.
Earlier this month, the competition celebrated another of its popular categories when Steve and Brenda Wilkinson of Dunholme Farm welcomed visitors to their award-winning garden following their success in the Best Farm Garden category. The open evening provided an opportunity for guests to enjoy the beautiful surroundings while raising money for the North West Air Ambulance, highlighting the strong community spirit that underpins the competition.
The announcement of the Supreme Farm Champion marks the culmination of this year’s competition and provides an opportunity to celebrate not only the winners but also the many farming families whose hard work, innovation and commitment contribute to Cheshire’s thriving agricultural sector.
Those wishing to see this year’s Supreme Champion first-hand will have the opportunity to do so at the Supreme Farm Walk, taking place at Jones HFE Agriculture, Hill Farm, Eccleston, on Thursday 16 July at 7pm. The event will give visitors the chance to tour the award-winning farm, hear more about the business and celebrate this year’s achievements alongside fellow members of the farming community.
Congratulations go to all of this year’s winners, finalists and entrants, whose dedication and passion continue to showcase the very best of Cheshire agriculture.
