Nofence, the pioneer in virtual fencing technology, has just launched HerdNet™, a brand-new collar-to-collar communication system designed to improve connectivity for livestock farmers – especially those in rural or remote areas.
If you’ve ever struggled with delays when moving cattle or updating pastures due to patchy mobile signals, HerdNet is here to change the game. Built into the new 2.5 model collars, HerdNet allows Nofence collars to talk to each other using Bluetooth Low Energy, so updates reach the entire herd – even when some collars don’t have a signal.
💡 Smarter Herding, Better Results
Traditionally, each collar needed to connect to the cloud individually to receive updates. But with HerdNet, only one collar needs a connection – it will then share the updates with the others nearby, speeding up the whole process and keeping your herd in sync.
This makes pasture changes quicker, rotational grazing more efficient, and herd stress lower, because all animals can move together – not one by one.
👨🌾 Real Farmers, Real Impact
Archie Corrie from Apley Estate in the UK shared his experience:
“The latest update has made a huge difference. The service isn't great where I keep my cattle — before it could take half an hour for collars to complete a move. The last time I moved my cattle, it was all done in under 10 minutes!”
This is the kind of real-world benefit that HerdNet is delivering – faster transitions, fewer delays, and healthier herd dynamics.
🧠 Designed with Farmers, for Farmers
The Nofence team developed HerdNet in close collaboration with test users, taking on feedback to solve one of the biggest pain points in virtual fencing: poor connectivity.
Not only does HerdNet improve reliability, it also helps respect animals’ natural behaviour by syncing updates across the herd. This reduces stress and supports better animal welfare – all while making precision grazing more accessible.
🌍 Bringing Virtual Fencing to More Farmers
Thanks to this new tech, farmers in remote or hard-to-reach areas can now benefit from real-time updates, even when mobile coverage is limited. It’s another step forward in Nofence’s mission to make virtual fencing available to more farmers worldwide.
