Breaking cover with an innovative new programme to form 6 regional farm networks across England, Social Care Farmers are on a determined course to raise their profile amongst the General Public.
Stephen Sellers, who was brought up on a Yorkshire farm himself, heads a small and dedicated team of volunteers assisting these farmers, who use their holdings to provide a therapeutic service offering to those, young and old alike, who have extra support needs eg autism or dementia.
Stephen says co-ordinating these farms, now numbering over 15 per county, has been a privilege. We have met some wonderfully generous people, more than willing to share their expertise and knowledge with colleagues, as well as visiting some fabulous farms.
Last week, with the kind support of the Royal Cheshire Show as hosts, the third regional network was started in the North West, joining the South East and South Central regions. If all goes well the regionalisation will be completed in 2028.
